Samuel J. Butcher (1939–2024) was the artist and visionary behind Precious Moments. After creating the first Precious Moments figurines in the 1970s, he dedicated his talents to building the Precious Moments Chapel in Carthage, Missouri, beginning in 1984 and opening its doors in 1989. Through his artwork, faith, and message of loving, caring, and sharing, Sam touched millions of hearts around the world.

The Precious Moments Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization with an emphasis on the arts. As the sole support of the Precious Moments Chapel & Grounds, Precious Moments Foundation strives to maintain the Chapel for all guests to enjoy the art and inspiration of Samuel J. Butcher.
100% of the net proceeds from all purchases in the Precious Moments Chapel Gift Shop and 100% of all donations received are utilized to maintain, operate, and protect the Precious Moments Chapel and Foundation for generations to come so Sam Butcher’s message of Loving, Caring, & Sharing can continue to inspire all who visit.
